Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to the best Dad around! Man we love this guy at our house. He does so much for each and every one of us. I don't know what we would do without him! He calms us, keeps us laughing and is always doing something nice for at least one of us. I sure am lucky I get to have him be the Dad for my cute kiddos! If I only did one thing right in my life, it was choosing him!
Happy Fathers Day Chris!
We love you!

Baby Bunnies!

This was probably one of the best parts of our whole summer! Baby Bunnies!!

Quincy and Brinley got 2 bunnies for their Birthdays in February. We were told that they were 2 girls. No worries about babies, so we had them in the same cage. Well...they were wrong. We actually had a Mommy bunny and a Daddy bunny! The day after we returned from our vacation to Disneyland in May our bunnies were acting really funny. The Mommy bunny was pulling out the hair of the other bunny. We quickly separated them the following morning and all left for work and school. When I got home a few hours later I went to check on them. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door and saw 7 BABY BUNNIES!! Baby bunnies are NOT cute at first! They looked like naked baby pigs! I had no idea how to take care of them. We did a little research and realized we needed to move them into a warm nesting spot. Emilee rubbed her hands all over the Mommy bunny to get her scent and then picked up each bunny and placed it in a box with hair, towels and a warm rice pack. According to the internet, we would be very lucky to get all 7 to survive. The Mommy started to feed and take good care of them and they all lived!

After a few weeks their eyes were open, they had fur and they were so so cute! They were so much fun to hold and play with. Even I loved them! That's saying something! It was such a fun summer playing with bunnies every day. The kids named all 7 of them. We had Kevin, Marie, Beast, Oliver, Rex, Bamby and Thumper. I believe each name had something to do with a Disney Character. Of course!!

When they got to 8 weeks old we knew it was time to sell them. Otherwise, we would have a whole bunny farm! The girls were able to sell all of them and each opened a bank account with the money they earned. They were sad to see them go!

So Embarrassing!!

Oh my goodness, who knew that if you left a very large tarp on your lawn during the middle of the Summer to dry, that you would end up with a very large burn spot?! Apparently, everyone but Chris and I!! As the final part of putting our yard back together after the addition, we got mulch in our trailer to put in all of our flowerbeds. We had worked sooo dang hard trying to make our yard finally look nice. We finished spreading mulch everywhere and then sprayed off the HUGE tarp that we had borrowed. It was wet...so it made perfect sense to us to lay it out to dry! Chris left for work and a couple hours later I went to fold it up. I knew as soon as I lifted up the first corner that we were in trouble. It was burnt! That is one mistake you just cannot keep to yourself. I cannot even tell you how many comments we had to endure from our neighbors! Good thing we can laugh at ourselves! They all thought it was pretty hilarious. Gratefully it was not burnt at the roots, but only about 1/2 way down each piece of grass. It took a couple mowings, but the grass was finally back to normal. One of our neighbors told us it was all they could do to not sneak over during the night and paint a full sized basketball court on it!
I think we learned a very important lesson this Summer!!

Camping in Mantua

Dad's first day off of the Summer...we went camping! We had to get it in as soon as we could before our Summer filled up. We didn't go too far from home. We borrowed Grandpa and Grandma's tent trailer and went to Mantua. Kade had to be somewhere early the next morning, so he and I went home to sleep and get him on his way the following morning.

Dinner was the highlight of our camping adventure. It was a pretty relaxed trip. We made chicken and rice as well as homemade rolls in the dutch oven. Dad is getting to be a pretty great dutch oven chef! We roasted smores for dessert. Quincy and Brinley got some exploring in and the rest of us got a lot or relaxation in our camp chairs. Yay!!
Great start to our Summer!

4-Wheeling!

We live in a beautiful place! A few blocks up the road is the entrance to Perry Canyon. A ride up there is a great way to spend a Summer evening. Chris loves any chance he gets to be on his 4-wheeler, and I have to say I love a good ride on the back with him. It's beautiful up there. You can see the temple and tabernacle below and Perry has some of the best sunsets around!
